We love our vendors, and we can’t wait for you to get the chance to meet them at the inaugural Backroads Market on October 7, 2017.
Because we want you as excited about the Market as we are, we’ll be introducing you to several of our vendors leading up to the big day.
Our very first vendor spotlight?
Linda Ahner of Linda’s Soap Shop
Linda has always been a fan of handmade soap. In fact, she started making her own due to an offhand comment. One day, she was pulling a bar of handmade soap out of her wicker stand and she said, “I have a lot of money wrapped up in soap here… I need to learn how to make it!” Her husband overheard her comment from the other room, went online and bought her a book on how to make soap. She received it for her birthday a month later.
Boom. A business was born.
Linda’s specialty is Handmade Organic/Essential Oil Soaps. She loves coming up with new scents and her creativity is sparked by customers who take an interest in her product and ask her to make their favorite item. Her best-selling scent? It’s kind of a funny story:
“I am the soap-maker and thinking of all these awesome scents I can come up with and one day my daughter just started combining fragrance oils and created this amazing scent (Pomegranate Sea) … it has become my #1 seller!!!”
Sometimes even the best can use a little help. And it’s always better when it comes from our kids! The talent definitely runs in the family.
Linda recently added ten new Hand & Body Creams to her inventory. These amazing creams are non-greasy and you can be sure they smell delicious. She also makes All Natural Deodorant (men and women’s scents), which is a customer favorite. Rounding out her offerings are face masks, bath salts, salt scrubs, and bath fizzies.
I mean, if you want to truly pamper your skin, Linda is your girl.
Linda’s business is her happy place. Her favorite thing is that people keep coming back for more, so she keeps adding to her line of products. Her only regret is that she hasn’t yet been able to go full time with the business. That, and when she’s out of stock.
To get a little inspiration, Linda listens to Motown and Country music. She knows it’s an odd mixture, but she grew up in Detroit and has an inborn love of Motown music. Later in life, she gravitated to country. So Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert are always on while she works.
When asked how the business has helped her family grow, Linda said, “Oh, we are closer for sure. My daughter goes to shows with me sometimes. She gets to practice her math skills! My husband is very supportive and has built all my Soap molds, cutter, and the display shelf for my shows.”
Linda is looking forward to making new friends at Backroads Market and helping customers find their favorite scent in whatever product she has. In soaps, bath bomb fuzzies, hand & body cream… whatever they are looking for.
