Gloria Schotter has been an art fiend since she was a child. In her own words, “There is nothing better as a child than the smell of a new box if Crayola 64 with the sharpener in the side!”
Backroads Market couldn’t agree more.
As for making jewelry, it’s been a long journey with lots of learning. Gloria’s style has evolved with each new technique she’s learned, and the result is nothing short of stunning. In fact, she’s very proud that her eclectic collection is pleasing to so many different types of people.
Being her own boss is the joy of Gloria’s life. She can design at 2am if inspiration strikes, and she enjoys attending art fairs where she can get to know her customers (though she admits that sometimes her jewelry gets remarks that make her giggle). Even so, being a maker has helped her grow her circle of friends, and having such a creative circle makes her very happy indeed.
Wired, Fired, and Vintage Inspired Products
Gloria’s favorite medium is metal. She says, “It’s a good day when I can wack some metal!” But she also loves wire wrapping, and if she get to put those two together? Golden. Sometimes literally.
Nature, her kitties helping her, and a wonderful husband who is always in her corner keep Gloria going and inspire her. Mostly, though, just looking at all that metal, wire, vintage jewelry and beads gets her creative juices flowing.
Our favorite thing about Gloria (besides her amazing jewelry–obviously) is that she listens to audiobooks while she creates. Check out this cool chic’s taste: Harry Potter (all of them), most any of Robert Heinlein’s science fiction, Stephen King’s The Stand, 11/22/63, and The Dome, and Game of Thrones. We want to raid her library.
She listens to those incredible stories while making everything, including the bracelets and cuffs that are customer favorites. Oh, and keyhole rings. And if that name sparks your curiosity as much as it does ours, make sure and be at Backroads Market on October 7 so you can find out what they are!
Gloria is looking forward to seeing you there, meeting new friends and catching up with old friends while offering you the best she has to offer in gorgeous jewelry. You can find her now on Facebook, but you have to come to the Market to get the goods.
See you there!
