We planned, we fretted, we organized. We held meetings. We contacted artisans we knew. We searched for the cream of the food vendor crop and the best of local musicians.
We had a vision.
And we are proud to tell you that the inaugural Backroads Market exceeded even our imaginations. Total transparency: At 9:55, we were looking at each other–all big-eyed and huge grins–and saying (well, girl-squealing) under our breath, “We have a line.”
Yep, there was a line of people waiting for us to open the gates. And they never stopped coming. When we tallied things up at the end of the evening, we realized we had roughly 1,000 visitors. And we appreciate each and every one of them.
35 vendors set up stunning booths filled with the most beautiful artistry to be found in Indiana. MaMaw’s Kitchen and Meat Slingers served delicious food while Ryan Lynton, Matt Mowery, and Dave Napper played amazing music for all to enjoy. We were so pleased to hear the vendor’s compliments to us on how well organized we were, how beautiful the site was, and how smoothly everything went. That means we did our jobs right and made good on our promises to them.
Oh my, y’all, it was so. much. fun. We can’t wait to do it again.
So much so that we’ve already set the dates for the spring Market. May 11 and 12 will be another fun-filled Market with even more vendors and more fun for our visitors. So save the dates and come back out and get some good handmade stuff for your home and family.
If you didn’t get a chance to pick up a Backroads Market tee, remember you can buy one in our shop.
If you are interested in being a vendor for the spring Backroads Market, you can grab an app here. So many of the fall vendors have promised to come back, and we can’t wait to see the new vendors that jump on board.
We’re only going up from here, my friends. Hurry up and join us!
