Eric Enk has been making pure maple syrup on his family farm for years, but it wasn’t until a customer at his day job asked if he could make hickory syrup that he realized flavored syrups could be his thing. His first happy customer said that hickory syrup was the best she’d ever had.
He added a few more flavors, including rhubarb and sassafras, and a business was born.
Hoosier Sugar Daddy (and can we just tell you that we LOVE that name?) now has over 20 flavors, though some are seasonal. Eric gets his ideas by remembering things from his childhood, especially the flavors and foods his German grandmother used to make. He takes great pride in being in total control of everything about his business, from creating to bottle delivery and inventory.
Eric is most proud of his Persimmon Syrup, which is also his best seller. We get why–just the thought makes our mouths water. His other flavors include Bourbon Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice, Red Raspberry, and Blueberry. And seriously, who doesn’t want to try them all?
Eric is coming to us from up north, so he’s looking forward to meeting people from our neck of the woods. You can follow Hoosier Sugar Daddy on Facebook, but if you’re hungry, you’d better get to the Market on May 11 & 12 and get some while the getting’s good.
See you there!
P.S. Want a fantastic way to use your syrup once you’ve got it home? Make one of these delectable bagel spreads featured on Hoosier Sugar Daddy’s Facebook page and find yourself a little piece of Heaven.
