Christy Libbert and her dear friend, Amanda, worked together for several years in hospital administration before they decided to start a boutique. Both women had to dress nice for work and loved boutique clothing. It didn’t take them long to decide they wanted to create a business where they could share their unique style at an affordable price.
Inspired by their customers’ wishes, Cut From the Same Cloth offers dresses, tunics, cardigans, and tops, but their favorites are their funny novelty tees and mugs.
“We both have odd senses of humor,” Christy tells us, “so when we find a funny item that our customers also love we feel like it is a definite win.” Abby and I also have odd senses of humor, so we’re looking forward to checking out those tees!
Being in business together has really helped the pair grow as friends. They have learned to play to one another’s strengths. “The best part is being able to see the end results and know that it is something we created all on our own,” Christy says. We can relate, girls.
Though Christy and Amanda aren’t big fans of all the paperwork involved in running their own business, they love matching up customers with amazing new clothes. When they’re working together, you’re likely to find them listening to upbeat pop like Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, and Justin Timberlake. We’re betting they dance around a lot while they work.
Want to get a sense of their humor? Because this sounds like something the Backroads Market ladies would totally do. “For our first show, we forgot chairs,” says Christy. “There was an antique market close by, and I said I would go find us chairs. Amanda thought it was never going to happen, but I came back shortly with two bright green lawn chairs straight from the 1980s.” They still bring those bright green chairs to every show. It makes them laugh every time.
See you there!
